Procedure: §
Setup
a logon ID and password for your local computer. The ID needs to be the same as
the VPN server’s user ID. Passwords can be different. §
Add
Virtual Private Network adapter to the adapter list on Network Neighborhood
(Win98). Windows 2000 do NOT need to do this on My Network Place. §
Reboot
Win98 §
Open
Dialup network, and create a new dialup connection. Under the phone # field,
type IP address of the remote VPN Server. §
Added
at least TCP/IP protocol. Leave Server to assign the IP and other data for you.

Add
Netbuie protocol, if you need to access the server with its host name, such
as DCS01. §
Setup
part is done. §
Connect
to ISP first with your modem or DSL. §
Open
the VPN dialup you just created. §
Enter
Server ID and Password. §
If
you can not connect to the Server, then A. Firewall may have a block. B. try
to ping server IP. C.ID on your PC and ID on VPN server are different. §
If
connection is established: use Search PC function to access the Server. You
can not use Network Neighborhood to see the server. VPN
